Rebecca Yee, Ph.D., is the chief of microbiology and director of the clinical microbiology and molecular microbiology laboratory sections at George Washington University Hospital, where she is also an assistant professor of pathology.

Yee earned her Ph.D. in molecular microbiology and immunology from Johns Hopkins University, completed a fellowship in clinical microbiology at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology. She serves on working groups of both the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM).

Her research interests are in the development of novel, more rapid diagnostics for infectious disease diagnoses and antimicrobial resistance detection. She is interested in elucidating emerging antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and exploring the role of novel laboratory diagnostic tools in facilitating antimicrobial stewardship programs to reduce costs, optimize therapeutic outcomes and reduce antimicrobial resistance.
