Top COVID-19 Research: Timely, Curated and Vetted by Experts
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for engaging with the articles, postings and virtual journals club events on ASM’s COVID-19 Research Registry (Registry). We hope the Registry has been a valuable resource for you throughout the pandemic. As we envisioned and created the Registry, it was our aim to bring together a curated collection of research that is timely, impactful and vetted by experts. It is our hope that we’ve fulfilled that mission and provided you with the most significant COVID-19 research over the past 2.5 years.
Since the Registry launched in April 2020, more than 2,500 articles have been published on it and more than 80,000 users have viewed its content, with over 130,000 pages viewed. Throughout the lifespan of the Registry, we have published weekly COVID-19 research updates by the Curator-in-Chief and more than 50 biweekly commentaries by the curators. We are also proud to have hosted 16 monthly virtual journal clubs, which attracted a global audience of researchers and educators from more than 40 countries. These numbers are a testament to the success and impact of the COVID-19 Research Registry.
As COVID-19 transitions from a pandemic to an endemic phase, we have completed our original intention to establish the COVID-19 Registry to provide reliable and up-to-date information about COVID-19 research. The web traffic to the Registry has decreased starting this summer, and engagement on asm.org has shifted to other topics. Therefore, we will pause the activities of the COVID-19 Registry by the end of Oct. 2022. Although no new update will be added, the Registry site and all the information will remain open for the community to access. ASM will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will share and publish the most important information on asm.org and in ASM’s journals.
The COVID-19 Research Registry has been an exciting collaboration between ASM volunteer leaders, staff and members, and we are grateful for the opportunity to rise to the moment and meet the need for timely, vetted information about COVID-19. Thank you, again, for engaging with this project. It is readers and participants like you who have made ASM’s COVID-19 Research Registry a success.
